SHARP is a highly regarded, award-winning, modern company and whose work is built around the theory of the “meaning behind movement.” SHARP feels that dance should be more than a performance, it should be an experience through emotionally driven, socially conscious work.
SHARP's dedication to artistic exploration has led them to prestigious residencies in California, Ireland, Italy and Greece, further fueling our innovative choreography and influencing our original works, including DNA and The Garden Tour. SHARP’s repertoire blends classic technique with thought-provoking themes that inspire dialogue, empathy, and connection.
SHARP has performed throughout the U.S. in cities such as: New York, Rochester, Phoenix, Chicago, Cincinnati, Portland, Boulder, San Diego, Brooklyn, Portsmouth, etc. SHARP has toured throughout Europe in Italy, England, and Greece.
Artistic Director/Choreographer Diane Sharp-Nachsin was selected as a New Edge Mix Artist Award Recipient in Philadelphia. She was also chosen as a BAU Institute fellow in Italy and an Artist in Residence recipient in Paros, Greece.
SHARP Dance Company offers four distinct programs, allowing presenters to select the experience that best resonates with their community and audience. Program options include:
Storyteller—a collection of emotionally charged works highlighted by their signature work, Blind Faith, 669 (the story of Sir Nicholas Winton) and Fate. (75 minutes plus intermission)
The Journey focuses on strong movement and physicality highlighted by I AM HERE, Chosen and Puzzle. (75 minutes plus intermission)
Une Soirée au Cabaret is a lively evening that harkens back to the days of the speakeasy featuring a Master of Ceremonies, a Vocalist and a Party with the Audience. Performance run time is 55 minutes followed by 30 minutes of audience engagement.
Garden Party is a 45-minute program that can be performed twice in the same location. Designed for the outdoors with dancers set among the sculptures, trees and gardens, no Marley is needed. Performance highlights include audience engagement, an opportunity to amplify non-traditional spaces and a cast of four dancers, making this an affordable performance that is also suitable for audiences new to dance.
