Child’s Play Touring Theatre was founded by Victor and June Podagrosi in 1978 and is recognized today as the premiere professional children’s theatre in the country. Child’s Play is dedicated exclusively to performing stories and poems written by children.  Combining the important, imaginative writings of children with the craftsmanship of professional theatre artists and educators, Child’s Play created a unique stage where children’s voices can be heard, examined and treasured.

Child’s Play inspires young people to read, write and think creatively.  The goal at Child’s Play is to help children understand the value and significance that writing and reading has on their lives.  Their performances and workshops offer a powerful teaching tool that strengthens and enhances the teaching and learning process.

Child's Play has developed sequential writing and education programs for children and educators throughout the United States.  Programs are easily integrated into a school's curriculum. They include:  Young Author Workshops, Teacher Workshops, Artists-in-Residence, and After School programs.

Over the years, Child’s Play has developed multiple partnerships with other arts education organizations to bring enhanced arts curricula to schools and communities throughout the United States.  Through performances, workshops and intensive residencies across America, we have reached over 4 million audience members and more than 17,000 young writers have seen their words  transformed into live theatre.

Touring programs include:

Global Energy: The Musical is a theatrical performance focusing on the different types of energy used throughout the world today and on global conservation efforts.   The vibrant show, utilizing a variety of multi-media video and sound, tells the story of a young girl who, with the help of a magical genie, sets out to change the way her community, (and her dad), think about energy.

Animal Tales and Dinosaur Scales. A tap dancing dinosaur, a duck family and a very old dog that speaks Spanish are just a few of the characters you’ll meet and love in this Child’s Pay favorite. With plenty of opportunity for the audience to sing and play along, it’s a show for the whole family

The Christmas that Almost Wasn't.  The true spirit of the holidays is brought to life in this behind the scenes peek at the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations at the North Pole. Dancing reindeer, medical mix-ups and a spell casting witch are all involved in this delightful tale of narrowly averted Christmas disasters.
