Performance Options
MAINSTAGE STORYTELLING: For audiences of every age, charming folktales are combined with traditional musical instruments, magical masks, origami and mime to create storytelling that will have audience spellbound in their seats. According to organization/school needs, in 45-60 minutes show, 3-5 short stories are performed with audience interaction and participation. The stories are carefully selected to portray the culture and moral perspective of Japan. Audience are encouraged to compare Japanese and American tales, arts and the cultural elements during a Question and Answer session. A favorite performer at Disney's Epcot Center, Kuniko has charmed audiences from The Kennedy Center to Eskimo villages in Alaska.
ORIGAMI TALES: Welcome to the infinite world of Origami! In Japanese, ori- means to fold and - gami means paper. Using origami, music and audience participation, storyteller Kuniko Yamamoto provides a magical entry into Japanese culture and the art of simplicity. In her new show Origami Tales, mythological character masks & puppets, amazing flowers and a six-foot-long dragon--all made from origami--set the stage while Kuniko shares heartfelt stories from ancient Japan. According to organization/school needs, in 45-60 minutes show, expect boundless imagination out of simple paper folding and uplifting world of storytelling.
YOUNG AUDIENCE WORKSHOPS: Kuniko has presented workshops and residencies in school around the worls. All are hands-on and designed to introduce Japanese arts and culture. These include
